46% women satisfied with career: Survey

Only 46 per cent of the women working in Indian corporates and public sector undertakings are satisfied with their respective careers, according to a recent survey by the the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham).

Excessive pressure, commuting problems, too much work for too little pay are the major reasons that bother the working women, the survey said. The survey released on the eve of Women’s Day, is based on responses from 2,600 corporate woman employees from 32 companies and organisations across 11 sectors of the economy.

Further, the survey reveals that more than 62 per cent of working women are suffering from some sort of career crisis. Over 40 per cent think their jobs are too demanding and the pay disproportionate to the workload.

 

Over 35 per cent are disheartened by long commutes and another 20 per cent are hoping for promotions and more learning opportunities. About 47 per cent respondents express a desire to stay at home and be full-time housewives.
