YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy, his mother YS Vijayalaxmi and three other family members are among the candidates being fielded by the party for the Lok Sabha and Assembly seats in Seemandhra, which is going to polls on May 7.

The party  on Monday released the list of candidates for 24 out of 25 Lok Sabha and 170 out of 175 Assembly seats in the 13 districts of Seemandhra that would become the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh from June 2.

While Jagan is contesting from the Pulivendula Assembly constituency in his  home district Kadapa,  YS Vijayalaxmi, who is a sitting MLA from Pulivendula, has been named as the candidate for the Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha seat from where former Union minister D Purandeshwari is seeking re-election on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket.

Three more from the family stable, YS Avinash Reddy, YV Subba Reddy and P Ravindranath Reddy have been named for Kadapa and Ongole Lok Sabha and Kamalapur (Kadapa district) Assembly constituencies respectively. Earlier Jagan’s sister Sharmila’s name too was considered for one of the Lok Sabha constituencies.

Ramky Group promoter Alla Ayodhya Rami Reddy and former state minister Mopidevi Venkataramana, the two co-accused among several others in the quid pro quo investments case filed by the CBI against the party president, have been given Lok Sabha and Assembly tickets respectively.

In addition, businessman Koneru Prasad has been given the Lok Sabha ticket from Vijayawada. Prasad is the prime accused in a separate case being investigated by the CBI  involving  a joint venture township project.

The list  contains other instances of multiple members of one political family getting the party tickets in districts like Kurnool and Chittoor.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), its main rival in this election, has partly released the names of the candidates for Seemandhra while the Congress has announced the names for almost all the constituencies.

The Congress list too has five members from a single political family headed by former PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana getting tickets.
