Total outage in generation at 1,232 MW

The Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited (APTransco) today said the 500-MW unit-1 of NTPC Simhadri tripped at 11.45 AM on Wednesday due to boiler tube leak.

Add to this, five units of other power plants went out of service for various reasons. These five units caused fall in generation to the extent of 1,232 MW, inclusive of 620 MW due to planned maintenance and 612 MW because of forced outage.

The units are KTPS-10 (250 MW), BSES 1&2 (220 MW), NTPC 5 (AP share of 150 MW), Spectrum 4 (67 MW) and NLC 4(AP share of 45 MW). The hydel generation was practically nil due to low reservoir levels, a Transco release said here.

The situation is being managed by regulating the loads as and when required and despite losing 1232 MW due to outages.

Transco is able to meet the power demand of 5200 MW as on Wednesday, the release added. The Simhadri unit is likely to be restored in a couple of days.
