600 Mw of solar power capacities to be commissioned in Guj

In a major development in the clean energy space, Gujarat government will soon announce commissioning of 600 megawatt (Mw) of solar power generation capacities in the state. The official announcement will be made on April 19, 2012 at Gujarat Solar Park, developed at Charanka village in Randhanpur taluka of Patan district.

The dedication of 600 Mw commissioned solar power projects in short span of one year is the contribution toward positive action against Global Warming. This achievement has put up the State in to the Global Map as Renewable Energy Hub, an official statement stated. The projects at Gujarat Solar Park at Charanka has an aggregate capacity of 214 Mw at the single location. Twenty one new projects generating 210 Mw of solar power would be commissioned at the Solar park on April 19 by the state chief minister Narendra Modi. Several other solar power projects have been developed at different locations in the state including Anand, Banaskantha, Jamnangar, Junagadh, Kutch, Porbandar, Rajkot, Surat, and Surendranagar.

 

Gujarat Solar Park is an initiative of Government of Gujarat to promote solar installations within the state for with ease of operation. The state government had signed 968.5 Mw of solar power projects under its Solar Power Policy. The foundation stone of the Solar Park at Charanka was laid in December, 2010.

The state Government has allocated developed land to the Project Developers with the entire infrastructure including power evacuation, roads and water for commissioning of the Power Project on fast track.
