Located between Ahmedabad and the state capital Gandhinagar, Chandkheda is seen as an alternative to the congested Ahmedabad city, which is spread across River Sabarmati. The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) started the development of the city six-seven years back.
While a two-storied, four-room bungalow can be bought at Chandkheda for Rs 8-10 lakh, a small flat of 120 sq yard in other parts of the main city will cost you a much higher price. In addition to more space, Chandkheda is less polluted and offers lots of greenery.
Chandkheda, even a year back known more as a colony for the employees of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), is now being watched by all, including a large number of retired and serving ONGC employees.
Construction work is being carried out by more than 50 builders in a five km area here for the last two years. Chandkheda is expected to have more than 40 societies, with schools, colleges, parks, shopping complexes, banks, petrol pumps, and other facilities in the next one year.
As compared to other areas of the city, Chandkheda is preferred for its prime location and pollution-free environment and for being closer to Gandhinagar and Kalol.
Apart from the employees of ONGC, IFFCO, Indian Oil Corporation and Western Railways, which have its employees
