A Stitch In Time -- Centre Addresses Textile Concerns

Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, the union minister for textiles, today said that the central government was fully aware of the problems faced by the weaving community in both the sectors -- powerloom and handloom.

The centre had taken measures to mitigate the woes of weavers, and the revival plan include setting up textile parks across the country, providing credit cards to all the registered weavers and financing through a dedicated textile bank, he explained.

Addressing a press meet here after the inauguration of Finlay's showroom, a unit of National Textile Corporation (NTC), Shahnawaz said:
