Mumbai-based Ambulance Access for All (AAA) Foundation has lined up plans to expand its 'Dial 1298 for Ambulance' services to all districts of Kerala by June 2009, said the foundation's director Ravi Krishna.

"In Kerala, we currently operate seven ambulances equipped with intensive cardiac care units. We aim to extend our services to two districts every four months and eventually cover the entire state in two years," Krishna said.

The foundation on Tuesday started its operations in Alappuzha and Kottayam districts. It will deploy five ambulances in each of these districts.

AAA currently operates 20 ambulances and 64 network ambulances across Ernakulam and Thrissur districts in the state. It plans to extend the services to Thiruvananthapuram district as the next step.

Dial 1298 for Ambulance aims at providing services accessible to anyone, at anytime and anywhere.

The project was set up by the LifeSupporters Institute of Health Sciences (LIHS), in association with the London Ambulance Service, a British government agency, which has provided the processes, systems, protocol, training and project implementation assistance to AAA.
