With winter all set to "fog" the skies in north India, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and airline companies are gearing up to tackle it. On the anvil are rescheduling of flights, imparting fresh training to pilots and providing information on delays to passengers. |
Air-India and Indian Airlines were training pilots on an advanced Instrumental Landing System where pilots could land the aircraft even under foggy conditions, AAI sources said. |
Most of the delays were due to "untrained" pilots and private carriers were reluctant to impart ILS training to their pilots because of the huge costs involved. |
