With no budgetary support coming in for airport upgradation at Mumbai and Delhi for the next fiscal, a disappointed civil aviation ministry has decided to ask the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to put in the initial investment.
According to senior officials, the ministry had asked for an upfront support from the finance ministry to kickstart the Rs 3,500-crore airport upgradation projects.

The civil aviation ministry has in principle decided to create two subsidiaries under the AAI for the two airports soon.
