The Tamil Nadu Co-operative Milk Producers' Federation (Aavin) would set up modern stalls at 22 railway stations including Trichy, Salem, and Erode. |
The federation has signed an MoU with the IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation) in this regard. |
While the railways would allocate sites on the platforms, the IRCTC would design their interiors. The Aavin authorities would select the agents from whom a deposit of Rs 7,000 would be collected. The rent would be paid by the stall owners to the railways as prescribed by the IRCTC. |
Apart from hot milk, the stalls would sell value-added products like ice-cream, gulabjamun, kova, milk powder, and ghee. At the Tiruchirappalli junction, Aavin would set up stalls on five platforms. |
The federation also plans to upgrade its 18 parlours at places like Chennai Egmore, Jolarpet, Trichy, Villupuram, Madurai and Dindigul. |
