Vice chairman of Jagati Publications Private Limited, V Vijay Sai Reddy, who was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday, has been sent to judicial remand till January 17.

He is named as the second accused in the alleged illegal assets case involving YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, founder of YSR Congress Party and son of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Jagati is the publisher of Telugu daily ‘Sakshi’ launched by YSR’s son.

The CBI, which produced Vijay Sai Reddy before a Nampally court on Tuesday, sought his custody for two weeks. Reddy’s counsel opposed the CBI plea. The petition has been posted for hearing on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the accused was sent to Chanchalguda jail.

The CBI had listed 73 names in the FIR submitted to the court in August, last year. The case was booked on the orders of the state high court. Vijay Sai Reddy is the first person to be arrested in the case.
