Chhattisgarh government is planning to take legal action against builders and developers who have developed illegal colonies in and around the state capital.
The district administration of Raipur has identified 16 villages in the periphery of the capital city where illegal plotting of land had been executed and sold without any approval from the agencies concerned.
The illegal plotting of land has been on rise in and around the state capital after the work for the new capital city started about 20 km from here.
“After survey, report has been prepared regarding illegal plotting and the administration is preparing to take legal action against those found guilty,” K P Bajpai, joint director with the town and country planning department said.

Officials said that about 150 builders and colonizers were under the scanner of the district administration. The builders and colonizers were served notices about three months ago. But they did not respond to the notice prompting the administration to plan legal action against them.
In Boriyakhurd that adjoins Raipur city, the state government had planned to develop a business hub to house all wholesale markets. But before the government could plan the project and acquire land, builders developed illegal colonies by selling plots without the approval of authorities concerned.
