The Anandpur Sahib Resolution does not stand in the way of the Akali-BJP poll alliance in Punjab, as the combine would work on the basis of the common minimum programme (CMP), BJP president, L K Advani said here yesterday.
Both the parties are unanimous in their resolve to implement the CMP, Advani told reporters here.
He said he favoured implementation of Sarkaria commission in toto which stood for greater autonomy for states.
Any bill passed by the state should not go for presidential assent, Advani said, adding that the bills approved by the Parliament should be implemented in the state without any delay or exception.
Advani said that the fall of the United Front government at the Centre was imminent and even the Congress was supporting it only to avoid facing the electorate owing to involvement of its leaders in scams.
Advani dismissed reports of indiscipline in the BJP as mere propaganda.
Advani, alongwith other senior BJP leaders like Madan Lal Khurana, is at present touring Punjab to canvass for the combine candidates.
The Akali manifesto had earlier stressed on the controversial Anandpur Sahib resolution, which seeks greater autonomy for Punjab. The BJP, which is opposed to the resolution, had said nothing about it in its own manifesto.
The BJP had said it supported greater autonomy, but within the constitutional framework.
