In order to attract a large number of cold storages as its potential clients, Delhi-based Air Control & Chemical Engineering Co Ltd (ACCEL), engaged in the production of high-speed refrigeration compressors, held a seminar on "power saving" at its Agra office recently, highlighting the low power consumption of its compressors. |
Being among the biggest potato-producing zones in India, the Agra region is dotted with more than 400 cold storages to preserve the annual potato produce. |
At present, nearly all the cold storages in this region employ high-speed refrigeration compressors to maintain an optimum temperature inside the installation. Currently, a dozen more storages, under construction in Agra and Hathras, require the installation of refrigeration systems. |
Talking to mediapersons after the seminar, ACCEL Joint Managing Director Amit Daga said the company focused on the Agra region because it offered large business potential in high-speed refrigeration. |
He said though the company already had a few clients among the cold-storage and ice-plant owners in Agra and nearby towns, quite a major part of this market was still untapped, which was the current target for ACCEL. |
He said besides high-speed refrigeration compressors, the company also manufactured Freon-based compressors and packaged chilling plants, apart from installing turn-key projects throughout the country. |
According to Daga, the clients of ACCEL included the Indian Railways, NTPC, IOCL, BARC, Blue Star, Voltas and Hindalco and in Agra too, the cold-storage owners had shown considerable interest in the company products owing to the low power consumption of these products compared to the commonly available multinational solutions. |
