Congress-led UDF's landslide victory in Kerala in the polls was due to the pro-people policies pursued by UPA at the Centre and the support extended to it by leaders like IUML's Panakkad Syed Mohammadali Shihab Thangal, Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed said today.

"The impressive show is due to the series of welfare measures launched by the Manmohan Singh-led Government under the guidance of Sonia Gandhi and the support extended to them by leaders like Thangal," Ahamed, who won the Malappuram seat by over one lakh votes, told reporters here.

The Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme was well received by the people as also other welfare measures, he said.

He thanked the electorate for supporting IUML candidates in Malappuram and Ponnani constituencies.
