Ahmedabad school tops survey

In what was a surprise to most academicians, Ahmedabad-based St Kabir's School has been ranked first in the west zone in the first such survey of 250 India's respected secondary schools commissioned by EducationWorld magazine and conducted by the Indian Market Research Bureau (IMRB).
 
The survey was spread across 15 cities in India and had a sample of 908 respondents whose average monthly household income is Rs 16,255.
 
The study revolved around 12 parameters including academic reputation, co-curricular education, sports education, quality of teachers, teacher-pupil ratio, value for money, leadership/management quality, parental involvement, infrastructure, quality of alumni, reputation for integrity and selectivity of admission.
 
Ranked first on the parameter of 'value for money', St Kabir School was joined by other Ahmedabad-based schools including Udgam School (9th), C N Vidyalaya (11th) and Eklavya School (12th) among the top 20 schools. Rosary High School (5th), Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan (6th) and Navrachna School (8th) from Vadodara also made the cut.
 
Speaking on the survey findings, Dilip Thakore, founder-editor of Business India and BusinessWorld magazines and editor of Education World said, "Perhaps the most startlingly high rating and ranking in the survey has been given by respondents in Western India to little-known St Kabir School, Ahmedabad. This low-profile school was rated above 7 on all parameters and above 8 on the quality of teachers and value for money."
 
Across the country, Delhi Public School R K Puram topped the survey with an average score of 8.02 on 12 parameters. It was followed by the Doon School "" Dehradun, Delhi Public School "" Mathura Road, South Point High School "" Kolkata, etc.
 
St Kabir School "" Ahmedabad, City Montessori School "" Lucknow, Apeejay School "" Delhi, La Martiniere Boys' School "" Kolkata, Seth M R Jaipuria School "" Lucknow, La Martiniere Girls' School "" Kolkata.
