Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has sought central assistance for the proposed Plastic City in Auraiya district, near Etawah.
The development would span about 314 acres, of which 225 acres would be for industrial use. The remaining would have a residential township, banks, schools and hospitals.
The chief minister also sought the status of Integrated Plastic Park for the development, which would help the project get central support and facilities. Yadav has written to the Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers, Ananth Kumar, to expedite the process for the status.

About 30 entrepreneurs from Gujarat and Maharashtra have evinced interest in investing in the proposed cluster. Auraiya was chosen to develop the Plastic City because of the availability of gas, power and land in the region.
The proposed Plastic City at Dibiyapur (Auraiya), about 125 km from Lucknow, is aimed at boosting the manufacturing sector and for entrepreneurship and employment generation. The project had elicited interest from major plastic industrialists. The All India Plastic Manufacturers' Association's representatives had met senior industry department officials urging them for time-bound implementation of the project.
The UP State Industrial Development Corporation had also held discussions with representatives of plastic manufacturers, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Small Industries Development Bank of India, Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited, NTPC and GAIL.
The proposed enclave would offer facilities such as common enabling assets and prototyping/virtualisation, non-destructive material testing, incubation, training, warehousing, plastic recycling etc.
