Alabama, the Southeastern state of the US, today invited Indian companies to form joint ventures with its firms in sectors like aerospace, healthcare, tourism, higher education and automotive.
"The areas of cooperation include healthcare, aerospace, automotive and agriculture as Alabama has state-of-art technology in these areas wherein Indian companies can form joint venture with its industry," International Trade Division Director Hilda C Lockhart said at an Assocham function here.
Hilda, who is heading a 30-member business delegation from Alabama, is on an eight-day visit to India.
Emphasising on partnership between India and Alabama in the field of education, she said, "We are looking for a long term relationship between University of Alabama and Indian universities for jointly imparting higher education to students."
She said, if the bill to allow entry of foreign educational institutions in the country is passed by the Indian Parliament, Indian students would be able to attain higher education by staying in India along with know-how of foreign universities.
The bill, if passed by Parliament, would allow foreign universities to open local campuses and offer degrees. It is aimed at regulating the entry and operation of foreign institutions.
