All you need to know about the 'Make in India' Week

Starting February 13 (Saturday), a week-long event, ‘Make in India Week’, will be hosted in Mumbai. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event.

The event, highlighting design, innovation and sustainability as its key markers, is being hosted to kindle a sense of pride in Indian manufacturing and take corporate and public participation to the next level.

A number of events have been planned around this theme on the larger canvas of manufacturing. The week-long calendar will showcase the people, policies and partnerships driving India’s new manufacturing revolution, and offer access, insights and opportunities to connect and collaborate with Indian and global industry leaders/visionaries, academicians, central and state administrations.

Business Standard takes a look at what the Make in India Week promises to offer:

* ‘Make in India’ Centre
An exhibition of India’s most innovative products and manufacturing processes, with a vision to leverage design, innovation and technology, against the backdrop of global manufacturing.

* State investment seminars
Various Indian states like Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh will organise their respective investment seminars, showcasing their key strengths & business opportunities.

* Sector seminars
Close to 20 sector seminars have been planned around the key sectors of the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

* CNN Asia Business Forum
Select CEOs from leading firms will discuss and debate ideas that will shape Asia’s economic and social future.

* Time India Awards
Panel discussion on innovation, entrepreneurship, intelligent manufacturing and awards on innovation.

* Make in Mumbai
An urban planning session and an exhibition on the best practices for building cities by adopting technology at the Make in India Centre.

* Driving innovation
Hackathon — a 24-hour marathon event, where coders, engineers and designers will collaborate intensively for 24 hours to come up with ideas to solve urban design problems — will be organised.

* Port of Call
An exhibition on India’s maritime manufacturing capabilities.

* Global brand building
A day-long session on global design and innovation.

* Empowerment through design
A forum on rethinking contemporary design practice. Many more events like state sessions, design conferences, cultural & fashion shows and networking dinners would be conducted.

* Leaders drive interest

Senior Union Cabinet ministers, chief ministers, government officials and senior industry leaders will participate in the event. A number of government and business delegations led by heads of state and ministers from different parts of the world are expected to attend the event.
