AMC, M J Library to get a fresh look

Ahmedabad Municipality Corporation will very soon declare M J Library and AMC quarter to heritage building.
 
AMC is also upto revitalization of walled city of Ahmedabad which is more than 600 years old.
 
The buildings like M J Library and AMC head quarters will also be declared as heritage buildings.
 
M J Library constructed by britishers in the year 1938. The library is around 68 years.
 
Similarly, the AMC was created in fourteenth century and the AMC head quarter must be around 70 year old.
 
Once the new AMC quarter is constructed, the current AMC quarter will be declared as heritage building.
 
In a continuos process, major cross roads, Chowks, Chabutras, and villages which were built in outskirts of walled city like Khokhara Gam and otherw will be shaped up.
 
According to sources in AMC, corporation is going to invest around 18.5 crore in heritage conservation.
 
"Not only M J Library and AMC quarter, but many other buildings which are more than 80 year old will also be declared as heritage building," said sources.
 
Besides, the small villages which are part of Ahmedabad city but are in the outskirts of walled city will also be revitalized.
 
"AMC will also invest in the villages like Khokhara, Sarkhej, Sabarmati and others to give a value of heritage," claimed sources.
 
The Ahmedabad city is as old as 600 years.
 
In our country very few cities are like Ahmedabad where the the walled city is as old as six centuries, said officila.
 
"In many cities few part or a particular builiding is old and Ahmedabad walled city is a huge area known for heritage," he expalined.
 
He also said that the new AMC head quarter will be constructed at the cost of Rs 15 crore.
 
"The location is still not decided," he added.
