The task force on employment opportunities has recommended largescale amendment of labour laws to allow companies to retrench labour without obtaining prior permission from the government.
The report of the task force presented today, has, however, said that there should be a social security net for employees through an insurance scheme for workers, wherein retrenchment compensation should be increased from the current level of half month pay per year of service to one month pay per year of service or higher.
