Gujarat Minister of State for Home Amit Shah will appear before the CBI tomorrow for questioning in connection with the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, says his lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani.

Shah was issued a summon earlier in the day but he did not turn up . "Shah has been asked to appear before us today at CBI office in Gandhinagar," CBI IG P Kandaswamy told PTI. The minister has been recently skipping cabinet meetings and not not attending office. He also skipped the cabinet meeting held yesterday.

The minister's absence from the cabinet meeting had fuelled speculation in the media that he might be arrested by the CBI in connection with the case. Congress had demanded the resignation of the Minister on moral grounds after his name cropped up in the case.
