The Central Budget is anti-Gujarat. The manufacturing sector plays a crucial role in the economic development of Gujarat. The increase in Central Excise on manufactured goods will have a severe impact on it.

The textile industry has been dealt a death blow. The UPA has given Rs 200 crore to Tamil Nadu’s Tirupur hosiery textile industry for pollution control measures. But the Union Environment Ministry is withholding approval to 60-odd projects in Gujarat.

The rise in import duty on silver and gold will have an adverse impact on the gems and jewellery sector, which employs a large number of people.

 

Gujarat’s 1,600-km long coastline gets nothing from the Rs 200 crore beach development programme under Green Projects.
