The Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and the government of Andhra Pradesh signed a memorandum of understanding to underline their continued support and commitment for Gitex Hyderabad, the IT and communications mega event to be held from January 12 to 14, at the Hitex International Exhibition Centre here.

Speaking on behalf of the organisers, Helal Saeed Khalfan Al Marri, director general of Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), said: "Over the years, the Gitex brand has become synonymous with information technology and communication. Gitex Hyderabad was launched in 2002 to serve the huge and rapidly growing Indian market. The event has now become an excellent business platform for companies to display latest technologies and launch new products and services.

"The success of Gitex Hyderabad is largely due to the active support and encouragement given to us by the Andhra Pradesh government and to the huge response from the Indian and international ICT community. We are confident that the 2005 show will continue to increase in size and scale and provide an effective B2B stage for the IT&C industry confirming Hyderabad's status as the land of e-opportunities," Al Marri added.

J C Mohanty, principal secretary, IT and Communications Department, government of Andhra Pradesh, said: "India and Andhra Pradesh, are persistently working towards increasing the global profile and fuelling the continued growth and expansion of the ICT sector. Several new government initiatives aimed at stimulating international interest in the region's ICT sector have been put in place, which will offer tremendous business opportunities. Gitex Hyderabad is an ideal platform to showcase the opportunities in the India region."
