The Republic of Angola, which was battered by several years of civil war, is seeking to enhance trade ties with India in a bid to boost its economy.

An Angolan delegation, led by the deputy industry minister Abrahoa Pio Dos Santos Gourgel, met leading industrialists of Surat at the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry, asking them to invest in Angola.

"Angola witnessed civil war for several years, but complete peace has been established now. The country has given a boost to partnerships around the world, and is heading for a great future," the minister told the gathering.

"Angola has great potential in various sectors including science & technology and information technology. The industrial sector also has enormous potential on account of abundance of raw material," he added.
