Industrialist and Rajya Sabha member Anil Ambani has sent a letter to the Chairman of the House, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, detailing his assets "in the interest of transparency, fair disclosure and good governance".

In his letter, Ambani has listed the companies where his financial interests, including remuneration, are involved.

"In the interest of transparency, fair disclosure and good governance, I am voluntarily making a disclosure of my interests in various organisations," the vice-chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries said.

Ambani's declaration will enable him to participate in various discussions in the Rajya Sabha, including on subjects where his business interests might be involved.

Elected as an independent with Samajwadi Party support, Ambani has expressed a desire to be part of the parliamentary committees on human resource development and water resources.

Stating that he was entitled to remuneration from Reliance Industries and Reliance Energy, Ambani listed five companies where he was a director and 11 where he was a shareholder.

Besides, he has listed seven areas, including oil and gas, telecom, textiles, petrochemicals and financial services, where he has interests as a shareholder or a director.

Ambani also mentioned 10 trusts and five organisations and committees, including the Uttar Pradesh Development Council, the Indian Institute of Management and the Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation, where he was a member.
