Ankaleshwar attempts to get rid of 'critically polluted' tag

About Rs 200 crore had been spent so far to reduce the pollution in Ankleshwar industrial estate in Bharuch district, to remove its 'critically polluted' tag, said Sudeep Kumar Nanda, principal secretary, Gujarat Environment and Forests Department at the launch of Enviro Tech Forum of Central Gujarat chapter of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII). Nanda said, "Ankleshwar has become greener with improved compliance with norms. An amount of Rs 200 crore has been spent for this purpose."

The Union Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) had identified six critically polluted industrial clusters in the state.
