West Bengal Chief Minister Jyoti basu has said anything can happen in Bihar including the dismissal of the Laloo Prasad Yadav government and the question of adverse effect on the Gujral government will arise if there is a split in the Janata Dal.
Now, we have to wait and see whether there will be Presidents rule in Bihar or whether someone else will become the Chief Minister. Anything can happen, he said in an interview to India Today magazine.
Basu said the designated court did not accept the chargesheet because of procedural difficulties. but all of us in the United Front have been saying it is better for him to resign. He can come back if he is proved innocent.
To a question how these developments will impact on the Gujral government, he said if the Janata Dal survives, Gujrals position will not be adversely affected. This question will come up only if the Janata Dal splits. But why should we assume there will be a split.
