The Andhra Pradesh government has allocated 5,342 hectares of land having iron ore deposits to Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) for mining. RINL's Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) sought the mining area for setting up an integrated steel plant besides ore benefication unit.
According to an official press release, this is the first time that the state government had allocated iron ore mines to VSP. While 2,500 hectares each were allotted in Gudur mandal of Warangal district and Bayyaram Mandal of Khammam district, 342 hectares have been allocated in Bheemadevarapalli of Karimnagar district.
The proposed steel plant and benefication unit will be established at Bayyaram.
