AP plans plastic park on 500 acre

The Andhra Pradesh government is planning to set up a plastic park on 500 acre at Ibrahimpatnam in Rangareddy district.

India is the third largest plastic consumption country in the world. Still, the per capita consumption is very low, which is 8 kg per year, while it is much higher in the developed countries. Addressing Poly India 2011, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy said, “We are proposing a plastic park in the state.”

On the proposal of setting up the Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemical Investment Region on the Vizag-Kakinada coast, Reddy said, “We are negotiating with the oil refineries and oil companies. We are putting pressure on them to come out with a quicker outcome.”

 

The three-day Poly India 2011, the first international exhibition and conference on polymers, plastics, technologies, was organised at Hyderabad recently.
