The Planning Commission has approved the state's annual plan outlay of Rs 36,800 crore for 2010-11. This is higher than the Budget estimate of Rs 36,728 crore for the year and more than the approved outlay of Rs 33,497 crore in 2009-10.
The Plan size was finalised at a meeting of Planning Commission deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and chief minister K Rosaiah, held in New Delhi on Friday.
According to an official press release, Ahluwalia appreciated the state government's initiatives in various areas of development, particularly in the implementation of schemes like Arogyasri, Rajiv Udyogasri and National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGA). He, however, expressed concern on issues pertaining to reduction in forest cover in the state, depletion of ground water, bridging the gender gap in literacy, adverse sex ratio and problem of anaemia prevalent among children and women.
The chief minister was stated to have sought continued support from the Planning Commission and Union government for the development of state.
