The Andhra Pradesh Information Commission received 101,453 applications under the Right to Information (RTI) Act during 2010.
Of these, information was furnished with regard to 98,125 applications, according to the fifth annual report of the commission submitted to chief minister, N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
When compared with 2006, its first year of operations, the receipt of applications in the state last year increased 1,044 per cent.
This increase was largely due to the awareness created by the print and electronic media and also the efforts made by various civil society organisations as well as the various awareness programmes taken up by the commission and government agencies, the report stated.
The revenue department stood first with 43,509 applications followed by municipal administration and urban development (13,882) and panchayat raj and rural development (9,236).
