AP shrimp exports may fetch Rs 2000 crore

 The shrimp production from the state may fetch Rs 2,000 crore foreign exchange during this year, as against Rs 1,400 crore during the last fiscal, said Raghunadha Reddy, the president of the AP chapter of the Seafood Exporters Association of India (SEAI).

 During the last fiscal covering two crops, exporters procured nearly 55,000 tonnes of black tiger shrimp from farmers. During the first crop period this year, which concluded on September 15, exporters purchased nearly 40,000 tonnes of head on shrimp from farmers.
