Andhra Pradesh will be the partner state for the Indian Trade Exhibition, scheduled to be held in Dubai from January 12, 2010, according to Rajiv Yadav, executive director of the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), a nodal trade promotion agency of the Indian government.
In a presentation meeting in Hyderabad on Thursday, on the forthcoming 29th edition of India International Trade Fair in November 2009 in New Delhi and the five-day Dubai fair, he said ITPO was contemplating taking its expos beyond Delhi and was currently talking to the Andhra Pradesh government on how best they could harness each other’s competencies in organising expositions in Hyderabad. “We will soon arrive at a strategy in this direction. We have already proposed a packaging event in Hyderabad in December 2010,” he said.
Stating that UAE is now the largest destination for India’s exports after the US, he said the Indo-UAE two-way trade today stood at $29 billion. “About 200 Indian companies across sectors like power and energy including new and renewable energy, printing and packaging machinery, builders hardware, automobiles, jewellery, handicrafts and textiles. health, chemical and pharmaceuticals, IT, education, real estate, banking, insurance, finance and logistics are expected to take part in the Dubai expo,” he said, adding that ITPO was planning a similar event in Mexico during the 2010-11 financial year.
