Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday asked the officials to speed up the process of developing four new ports, two in Srikakulam and one each in Visakhapatnam and West Godavari districts.
The proposed ports will be developed in Bhavanapadu and Kalingapatnam in Srikakulam district and at Bhimunipatnam in Visakhapatnam and Narsapur in West Godavari district under the competitive bidding process, according to a release from the chief minister’s office.
Apart from developing these new ports, the government would also initiate action on expanding the existing ports at Machilipatnam in Krishna district and Vodarevu in Guntur district.
The chief minister directed the officials to take necessary steps to increase the revenues to the government exchequer to Rs 1,000 crore in the next couple of years from Rs 67 crore at present.
