AP to take part in Stanford power meet

Andhra Pradesh has been invited by the Stanford University of the United States to attend a three-day international convention on 'Adopting latest technologies - experiences in power sector' from June 3. Andhra Pradesh is the only state which will represent the country at Stanford. 
 
Rachel Chatterjee, chairperson and managing director of AP Transco, has been deputed for the purpose.  
 
Stanford University has been evincing keen interest in the events, achievements and experiences of power sector in Andhra Pradesh.
 
Following the invitation by the Stanford University, chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on Wednesday asked Chatterjee to participate in the event, officials said. Chatterjee has been heading the power utility for the past three years.
 
In the international convention, she is expected to make a detailed presentation on the issues pertaining to reduction of transmission and distribution losses, strengthening of power supply system  etc.
 
It may be recalled that recently Crisil awarded the number one position to Andhra Pradesh in the country in terms of power sector performance.
