The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Science and Technology (APCost), under the aegis of the Culture ministry’s National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), is contemplating setting up a Science City on 20 acres on the outskirts of Hyderabad, according to its member secretary Y Nagesh Kumar.

APCost was floated by the state government in 1986 to formulate measures to foster the spirit of science at all levels of society, especially among the youth, and to evaluate scientific and technological options available to aid and improve the planning process and to improve the efficiency of investments in the state.

“The Science City will involve an initial investment of Rs 100 crore of which Rs 40 crore will be borne by the state and the remaining by the NCSM. We are expecting the budgets to be allocated soon,” he said. Kumar was delivering his special address at a meeting with the Innovation Norway delegation organised by the CII here on Thursday. Innovation Norway is the Norwegian government’s official trade representative abroad to promote innovation and development of Norwegian enterprises and industry.
