APL launches product for bakeries

Anil Products Ltd (APL), a producer of starch-based products, has launched Bakewell, a value-added product for the bakery industry.

The company, part of the Lalbhai group, has decided to focus on value added products targeted at various industry segments. Earlier, it had launched value-added products for the textile and pharmaceutical industries.

Amol Sheth, managing director, Anil Products, said: "We believe in going beyond the realm of just improving our products. Our product development and specialised application development team endeavours to provide best solutions to our customers, using our products as a catalyst for improving quality and saving on costs. Bakewell is one such product aimed at the bakery industry," he added.

Anil Products has already initiated the process of setting up an exclusive distribution network for Bakewell.

Anil Products has a wide range of modified starches for various applications in the food industry. "APL has more than 60 years of experience in handling raw materials, modification processes and product development of starch and starch derivatives. The company's products are primarily consumed by paper, food, textiles, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and other such industries," Sheth said.

"Anil Products is a preferred partner to companies like ITC Bhadrachalam, Colgate Palmolive, Century Textiles, Arvind Mills, Heinz, Weikfield, Rasna, and Wockhardt etc," he added. The company also supplies products to registered manufacturers of nutrients for international organisations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF.

In the third quarter of the current fiscal year, APL plans to set up a new plant outside Gujarat and expand capacity at its existing plant at Bapunagar in Ahmedabad. The company has recently earmarked an investment of Rs 100 crore in phases over the next five years.

APL aims to increase its turnover by at least 30 percent in the next two years.
