Arunachal Pradesh is likely to ban soft drinks in school campuses following reports that they contain high levels of pesticides.

Addressing students of a private school here yesterday, Chief Minister Gegong Apang said the government was concerned over the matter, and was going to take some immediate measures as it was related to health.

Apang said instead of soft drinks ''we should encourage people to take juices of locally produced fruits. This will not only provide nutrients to the people, but also help improve the economy of the state known for horticulture''.
