Asian indices track US gains

The Asian indices have opened on a smart note this morning following significant gains in the US markets.

The Nikkei has surged 271 points to 15,066. The Hang Seng has rallied 179 points to 16,659.

The All Ordinaries, Shanghai Composite, Seoul Composite and Straits Times indices are up over 1% each at 4969, 1684, 1283 and 2401, respectively.
