Asian markets in red; Nikkei down 123pts

Asian markets continued to exhibit weakness on the back of negative cues from the US markets.

The Nikkei has slipped 123 points to 15,074. The Hang Seng has plunged 554 points to 27,111.

The Taiwan Weighted index has shed 62 points to 8608. The Straits Times index has dropped 74 points to 3437, and the Seoul Composite index has declined 30 points to 1893.

The Shanghai Composite index, however, has gained 98 points at 5285.
