Asian markets mixed; Nikkei down 233pts

Asian markets are displaying mixed trend in morning trades today.

Japan's Nikkei has shed 233 points to 17,925. Hong Kong's Hang Seng has slipped 139 points to 23,152. The Straits Times index is down 11 points at 3640.

China's Shanghai Composite index has soared 115 points to 4174.

The Taiwan Weighted index has surged 48 points to 9634, and the Seoul Composite index has moved up four points to 1987.
