Asian markets on slippery ground

Mirroring the overnight trend in the European and US markets the Asian markets are reeling under selling pressure.

The Nikkei has plunged 1.7% (270 points) to 15,590. The Straits Times and Jakarta indices are also down 1.7% each at 2,398 and 1,343, respectively.

The ASX Ordinaries has dropped 1.5% to 4,992. The KLSE Composite and SET Composite indices are also down almost 1% each at 921 and 708, respectively.
