Asian markets on weak ground

Asian markets were mostly in red following a fall in the US indices.

The Nikkei ended with a loss of 130 points at 17,540. The Hang Seng has shed 93 points to 20,357, and the Straits Times index has dropped 41 points to 3380.

The Taiwan Weighted index is down nine points at 8075.

However, the Shanghai Composite index has gained 25 points at 3520, and the Seoul Composite index has added 12 points to 1526.
