Amid the din of electioneering, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has faulted the media for not highlighting developmental issues and cited how it picked up only “juicy” bits relating to BJP leader LK Advani from a comprehensive statement on these issues.

Asked if the real issues of power and hunger had been lost in the poll campaign, Singh said he had highlighted all the issues of development, but like in Mumbai, the media had picked up the “juicy” one relating to Advani, while not paying attention to the development issues.

“It is the fault of the media,” he told NDTV, on how his written statement during his recent visit to Mumbai, in which all the issues of development had been highlighted by him, were apparently ignored by the media.

“About Mr Advani, it was only the last paragraph. But the media picked up only the last paragraph, the juicy one. They did not pay attention to the development issues, which I raised and I mentioned how the Congress party will handle the development issues,” he said.
