Under the banner of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), companies having their presence in Assam and North-East, mostly oil PSUs, are exploring ways and means to broaden the horizon of corporate social responsibility (CSR).
At a conclave on corporate social responsibility, organised by CII, companies tried to arrive at an action plan to make CSR practices more visible so that more companies come forward to make CSR as a part of their board room agenda.
They tried to arive at an action plan and roadmap for effective and efficient delivery and monitoring of development projects funded by corporate and business houses.
“The event will showcase and display various project initiatives taken by the corporate in the North East. This will enable the beneficiaries and grass root workers to understand in depth the project they can envisage to partner or may get benefit from. It will also generate ideas among the business houses who can undertake projects under CSR agenda,” said BK Das, chairman of CII’s Assam state council and also the managing director of Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL).
The Conclave published a compendium documenting the wide array of projects undertaken by business houses, corporates and PSUs in the North-East.
“The basic objective of publishing the compendium is to bring before a large cross-section of Industry, the initiatives and experience of some important companies that have successfully implemented developments projects across the region,” said Das.
According to him, the projects documented in the compendium would encourage others to integrate CSR policy in their business agenda. “The case studies documented will be of help and guide to other companies to replicate similar initiatives,” Das added.
