If the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) authorities are to be believed, the city might get its first public fully-mechanised multi-level car parking system by next year. |
AUDA has floated tenders for the same and is about to finalise the project soon. |
Spread over nearly 3,000 sqmt plot, the parking would bear a capacity of 200-250 cars and would be built behind the wide-angle multiplex in Vejalpur area of Ahmedabad. |
"This would be the first of its kind car park which will be totally unmanned and fully-mechanised in the city," claimed Jagdish Pandya, CEO, AUDA. |
A leader in auto-parking manufacturing, Ram Ratna Group is a front-runner for the tenders. |
The company specialises in such parking facilities and has done similar projects in cities like Pune and Mumbai. |
"We have bid for the tender and are hopeful to grab the project. If all things went well, we expect to built a fully automated multi-level car parking facility for public use for AUDA," said Archan Mahajan, area sales manager, Ram Ratna Group. |
Mahajan added that the company is looking for an investment of Rs 10 crore in this BOOT-based project. |
According to Hansal Shukla, senior town planner, AUDA, the project is expected to be completed in 18 months once the project is contracted to a company. |
Shukla, who is incharge of the project, also added that once the work begins at the Vejalpur parking facility, another similar project would be initiated near Vastrapur Lake in Ahmedabad. The multi-level car parking facility at Vejalpur will have a capacity of over 250 cars, informed Shukla. |
Ram Ratna Group will hand out the maintenance and running of the parking facility to AUDA after 5-6 years, if it gets the contract, said Mahajan. |
