Ahead of a key climate change summit in Copenhagen, Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is expected to discuss the issue with US President Barack Obama in Washington next week.
The meeting between the two leaders will follow Rudd's attendance at the Commonwealth Heads of Government summit in Trinidad this weekend, according to AAP report today.
"I've been invited by the President of the United States to meet with him in Washington next Monday," Rudd informed the parliament.
He said they would discuss the agenda for the UN climate summit in Copenhagen, adding the meeting was a positive step in the fight against climate change.
"I would have thought it was a good thing for the Australian-US relationship," Rudd said, adding "I would have thought this was a good thing for our combined action on climate change."
