Austria's President, Heinz Fischer, was briefed on India's space programme at an Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) facility, here on Saturday, during his two day state visit.

Fischer was briefed on CARTOSAT-I, and the communications satellite INSAT 4A, at the ISRO Satellite Centre (ISAC), where the satellites were being prepared for their likely launches in April and June respectively.

"We don't have any agreements or memoranda of understanding specifically with Austria, though we work with its scientists as part of our collaborations with the larger European Space Agency. While this was just a visit, there was a large delegation here, and such visits could slowly lead to closer relations." Fischer also visited IT services firm Infosys here.
