Over 1,500 delegates from India and 50 other countries deliberated at technical sessions held during the exhibition.
A number of mineral rich states participated in World Mining Congress and Expo 2003, where they showcases their mineral reserves and opportunities for setting up units.
The award for the second best stall in the states category was received by GMDC managing director B K Sinha from Union minister of state for mines Ramesh Bais.
Minister of state for industries and mines Anil Patel outlined the opportunities on the mineral development front and invited industrialists to invest here.
A GMDC statement said a number of corporates and investors expressed their interest for mineral development in Gujarat.
The event was supported by the ministries of coal, mines, steel, petroleum and gas, industries and commerce, science and technology, environment and forests and small scale industries.
